When it came to providing a welcoming and calming environment for my office, I considered a host of clinic locations in Alexandria and Glenwood before the obvious answer struck me. My husband and I have recently restored a 100-year old property on Lake Minnewaska using as many green and toxin-free materials as possible. Our entire property is free from pesticides and herbicides, including our organic garden in the back yard. What better place to invite my patients to come early for their appointments so they can relax on the dock, wander through the garden and pick a few fresh vegetables, or soak up the sun in the front porch before their appointment. In the winter, bring your skates for a spin on the backyard rink.
We have roughly 1,500 square feet dedicated to the clinic to accommodate consultations, exams, and group events. Identifying the root cause and making a plan to move forward is a two way street; so working together in an environment conducive to contemplation and self-reflection is an important part of the equation.
