Excursions
All excursions are included in the price of the retreat!
We will have a general schedule for the excursions at the beginning of the week. Each evening during dinner, we will confirm the excursions for the next afternoon. Our group from the first retreat appreciated that we kept the schedule a bit flexible so we could change plans depending on the weather, or other factors such as whether there was a cruise ship on the pier on any given day. Excursions will be in the afternoons, which is the time block Stacey uses for her 1:1 visits. You can schedule your one-on-one session with Stacey depending on which excursion(s) you don't mind missing.
Bioluminescent KayakingThis pre-dawn excursion is led by Bush Tribe Eco Adventures exclusively for our group. Paddle across Salt River Bay to a bioluminescent bay for a magical and educational experience.

Tour by RyanJoin Ryan, steward of Feather Leaf, as he provides a history of the buildings and grounds that were built in 1760 as the Butler Bay Estate. Learn about the many plants and trees that Ryan and Corina are cultivating on the property and see where your meals are coming from!

Ham's Bluff LighthouseTake a short hike to the top of Ham's Bluff for some amazing views, then hike down to the shore to enjoy some tide-pooling to the sights and sounds of crashing waves.

Botanical GardensEnjoy 16 acres planted with over 1,000 Caribbean and pan-tropical plants and trees growing against a backdrop of ruins and repurposed buildings of an 18th century Danish colonial sugarcane plantation.

|
Downtown ChristianstedWalk the streets of the boyhood home of Alexander Hamilton, pop into cafes or shops or enjoy a stroll on the seaside boardwalk. For the history buffs, there is an excellent self guided tour at Fort Christiansvaern.

Point Udall / Isaac's BeachWe begin this hike at Point Udall, the Easternmost point in the US. This side of the island is desert, so you'll see a wide variety of cactus on the hike down to a beautiful beach perfect for swimming and/or snorkeling. (Snorkeling gear provided)

The RainforestJust down the road from the Feather Leaf Inn we find the complete opposite of the East End desert: A rainforest resplendent with exotic plants and towering trees.

Annaly Tide PoolsThe North Side of the island is home to the Annaly Bay tide pools and are accessed by a two mile hike through the rainforest, offering stunning views culminating at the tide pools. Lounging in the pools provides a great reward after a long hike!

Cane BayCane Bay is a short drive from the Annaly Tide Pools trailhead. These two excursions can be combined and this will be the one day we dine offsite. For a change of pace, we will eat at The Landing, renowned for their seafood of the day specials. Cane Bay is also home to Sweet Bottom Dive Center so this would be the day for SCUBA for those interested. This spot is also great for swimming/snorkeling.

Estate Mount WashingtonEstate Mount Washington Plantation is an old preserved sugar and cotton plantation. When it was fully operational back in the 1780s, up to about 1820, it was the second-largest producer of sugar in the entire West Indies

Chaney HuntingUnleash your inner archeologist as our daughter, Kenna, takes you to her secret spot where you are sure to find some Chaney. After finding your treasure, we will take you to Chaney Chicks in Christiansted, where they will craft your find into a truly unique piece of jewelry.

Sunset SailWe will cap off the week with a sunset sail on the Jolly Mon. Enjoy beverages and live music aboard the boat while you soak in the island view to the East and the glorious colors to the West as the sun slips below the watery horizon.
