Good Morning!“Expectation is the root of all heartache.”
Today we will be discussing expectations and its impact on health.
When we expect things to go a certain way and they don't, we are instantly frustrated with the outcome. Many times we are not aware of the possibility that there is a higher or greater purpose in the actual outcome. When we attach ourselves to the fruits of our labor, we are setting ourselves up for an emotional roller coaster and potentially shutting the door for greater possibilities.
When our expectations are not met - we experience many negative emotions - all of which negatively impact our health. We can then change our behaviors which further impact our health.
We can take failed expectations and evaluate them:
We can learn to redirect our energy and focus onto positive instead of negative.
We can use these encounters with failed expectations to strengthen and grow in insight and wisdom.
We can become more self-reflective
We may need to re-evaluate our expectation.
We can learn to let go of the outcomes and become more focused on the effort put into it. It takes a lot of trust to detach from the result but the benefits can be enormous.
As author Seth Godin says, "Just do good work".
Giving without expectation is a law of nature and it's what keeps the door open for unimaginable abundance to occur.
After all, the sun gives without expectation in return, a river gives its water to the ocean with no expectation, a tree produces fruit with no expectation, now it's your turn!
